Who is Jesus?

2,000 years ago a remarkable event took place; God the creator of the universe became a man, Jesus Christ. As if that wasn't staggering enough, Jesus Christ, though he lived his life for the good of others, was rejected, mocked and ultimately killed by those he came to save. He died in shame and agony upon a Roman cross, all the while loving his executioners. He was punished so that those who put their trust in him might escape their due punishment and walk as free men and women. Three days after his crucifixion Jesus rose to life, conquering death, victorious over suffering and sin and today he remains alive and seated on a glorious throne in heaven. Do you know him? If not there is wonderful news for you today: you can!

How can I know him?

thorns Paul, a man who God used to write many books in the Bible says in Romans 10:9 "if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Knowing Jesus as Lord and as Saviour is not something that any person can achieve through self effort and work. Instead, it is a free gift from God you can receive by trusting that what Jesus did on the cross many years ago is sufficient to deal with your mistakes and your failures; what the Bible calls your sin.

You can find out more about Jesus by reading the gospels, the gospel of John is a good place to start, or why not do an Alpha course with us at NCC? About The Church

Exciting, unpredictable, challenging, engaging, relevant, diverse, united, these are words perhaps not often used to describe church, yet at NCC this is genuinely our experience. Church life should reflect something of who God is, and he is all of the above and so much more, as a community we are brought together by God and for God ...
